Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.
Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.
Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.
But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.
Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.
"The fact that you purchased an inferior gift hardly seems like any failing on my part. It's common knowledge that shiny rocks are preferred among human females."
Oh my alien goodness. This book was so freaking awesome. Ever since reading and devouring the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout I have been searching for the next big YA Alien series... people I have found it. Alienated has everything you could possibly ever want in a book. It has romance, action and nail-biting drama.
Cara has always been top of her class. She excels in everything and when she defeats the other students for valadictorian she is thrilled... until she finds out that she has been chosen for the foreign student exchange program. And by foreign they mean from another planet. Cara never asked to do this but when she meets cold, clever and stunning Aelyx she can't help but like him. But the longer he is there the more angry the community starts to get against the L'eihr's. Suddenly Cara is the most hated person in school... well other than the alien next to her. As things get more and more dangerous can Cara abandon the one person she feels more for than she ever has been or will she continue to love him and damn the consequence.
Melissa Landers is an author to watch out for in the future. Alienated may be her debut YA novel but it is right up there with the long-standing bestsellers. I fell head over heels in love with Alienated and Melissa's fantastic and addictive writing style pulled me in right from the start and spat me out breathless and begging for more.
Cara is such a fantastic character. At first I wasn't sure about her she was the girl dating the jock and I immediately thought oh no I'm so not going to be able to identify with her (yes people I was the nerd in school). But the more I read the more I liked her. I could really identify with her and I just loved her more and more. I started to get really angry at her best friend for what she put Cara through and many times just wanted to jump in the book and defend Cara. I adored her.
Aelyx... oh bestill my heart I freaking loved him. He may be cold and aloof at first but his race really don't know emotions well and I loved how much he grew throughout the novel. Although there are times when you wanna throttle him for ignoring his feelings you understand him and by the end you can't help but be head-over-heels in love with him.
Alienated just had everything that I love in this book. I am in love with this story and these characters and by the end of the book I was just dying to know what was going to happen next. I need the next book... like right now.
Alienated is filled with lovable characters that you will fall for and be so invested in you feel like it's happening to your best friends. Alienated left me breathless on the edge of my seat dying for more. I would recommend this book to everyone. It's just the perfect book. Filled to the brim with nail-biting drama, heart-stopping action and breath-taking romance.
A must read for everyone... and yeah I'm a L'annabe!
