I was really reluctant to start reading this as I am such a huge Shakespeare fan and have read and love Romeo and Juliet too many times to count. Before starting 'Juliet Immortal' I had heard people who hated the play loved this and people who loved the play hated it so I was really reluctant to start it but I was not disappointed whatesoever. I love this book, I think it's a great twist on the tragic love story and I couldn't put it down.

Juliet Capulet did not kill herself for love as so many people think. The love of her life Romeo Montague murdered her so he could be granted eternal life. What he did not count on was Juliet coming back as well. For centuries they have battled with each other, Juliet fighting to save love and soul mates, Romeo trying to destroy it. But when Juliet finds another soulmate Romeo will do everything in his power to make sure they do not have a happy ending.

I instantly fell in love with this storyline. At first I was really curious as to how the story was going to progress but I loved it within a couple of chapters. Before reading this book I could never have imagined Romeo evil and before reading wasn't sure how I felt about an evil Romeo. Romeo was one of the first fictional characters that I loved and I loved his so much and his and Juliet's story is one of my favourites so no way could I imagine him being evil. However it is impossible for you to love Romeo in this story. He is an evil, manipulative character and I loathed him throughout the book. I never imagined hating Romeo but it is not difficult in this book.

I really loved the end of the book, I think it was a great ending and I really hope there is going to be a second book about what happened to Romeo. It is completely true that I hated Romeo but near the end I started to really feel for him, I started to like him a bit more and understand his actions a little more. At the end of the book I had mixed feelings I would like him one minute and then he's do something horrid and I would hate him again. I really hope there will be a second book so we can see what happens and hope that he can get a happy ending like Juliet.

When I heard about this book I thought it was going to be another love story but with someone else, and yes there is a love story in the book but I never imagined it would be as dark as it was. There were some really dark scenes in it which really surprised me but I loved it. Stacey Jay is an amazing author and her writing hooked me in right away. I just love her writing style and I can't wait to read some more of her work.
