'He's not mine, is he?' That's the question I fear the most. You see, I have a secret. My son is not fathered by my boyfriend, but by one of the most famous people that ever lived. And he doesn't even know it.
One-time celebrity personal assistant to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg Stiles is now settled and living in the south of France with her doting boyfriend Christian and son Phoenix. But they're living a lie - a lie that will turn their lives upside down and inside out. Because Meg's son doesn't look like Christian, he looks like his rock star father and, sooner or later, the world is going to realize ...
"You know I'm far from perfect. And I know that, too. But all that shit... All that stuff... It's in the past. I don't want to be that person anymore."
Right from the moment I first heard that Paige Toon was bringing out a new Johnny Jefferson novel I was practically bouncing in my seat. I am a huge fan of Paige Toon and have read all of her work prior to Baby Be Mine. Although her debut, Lucy in the Sky, is still without a doubt my favourite it is closely followed by Johnny Be Good. I fell head over heels in love with the bad boy rock star and honestly felt a bit cheated by the ending because of how much I loved Johnny. Well enter the next installment in Meg's love affair with the hottest rocker around.
Meg is terrified. She has been living a lite, but the truth is about to come out. Happily living with her boyfriend, Christian, and little boy, Barney, Meg's life should be perfect. But Meg can't forget her ex. World's biggest bad boy of rock Johnny Jefferson. The rock god who stole her heart... and smashed it. It doesn't help that everytime she looks at Barney it's Johnny's eyes staring back at her. She is the mother of Johnny Jefferson's son and as he grows older the more he looks just like his dad. How can she keep her secret from Christian, her boyfriend who believes that Barney is his. And how can she keep it from Johnny and the world? Meg's perfect lie is about to come crashing down around her and there are bound to be explosive repercussions.
I loved this book so much. I was ecstatically excited to be back with Meg and Johnny. Their relationship is one of my favourites, and Baby Be Mine did not disappoint. Paige Toon did it again with her phenomenal story telling skils. I could not put this book down. As soon as I picked it up there was no chance of doing anything. I was transported back into La La Land and the hotness and swoonyness of Johnny Jefferson. I just adore him. He is 100% one of my favourite characters and I devoured this baby within a few hours. Baby Be Mine is Un-freaking-believably good.
I love being back in Meg's head. It was so awesome to be back with a character I loved and I really sympathised with her. She was doing the best she could in an impossible situation. I have to say the best of Meg came out when Johnny came back into the picture. I loved her fieryness and her innane need to protect Barney. She is without a doubt one of hte best protagonists in a novel. I love her!
Johnny. Freaking. Jefferson! Oh be still my heart because its fluttering just thinking his name. Now Johnny was one of my first ever book boyfriend and I have had many since. I tend to have one in each book...
Now I know what you're thinking: Does he still measure up to the new ones since you read about him?
Phenomenal. A Must-Read.
"I love you. I never want to be without you. I never want to spend another day, another minute without you and Barney by my side."
