The Awakening (Darkest Powers #2)

The Awakening - Kelley Armstrong

If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

This definitely lived up to me high expectations. I thought this was an amazing second book in the trilogy.
Chloe, who was captured by the people who run Lyle House at the end of the previous book is stuck. Her friends are trying desperately to save her and when they finally do they have to go on the run again. Their only safe option is to try and find Simon and Derek's dad who has been missing for a couple of years.

I loved this book. I totally fell in love with Derek in this one. He is just so adorable and i loved how Chloe wouldn't leave him to change on his own, and helped his every step of the way. You could totally see the growing attraction and feelings between the two of them but i got frustrated at the fact that they wouldn't act upon them because of Simon's feelings for Chloe.

I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book and i am looking forward to seeing how the series concludes.
