Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits #1)

Pushing the Limits - Katie McGarry

"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.

So wrong for each other...and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

"Everything about you is beautiful and sexy as hell."

When thinking of Pushing the Limits the first word that comes to mind is just WOW! No words I could ever say or write with do justice to this book it was just phenomenal.
I had heard such amazing things about this book so when I received it for review I was so excited to start it. Every good thing I heard still did not do this book justice. After hearing such amazing things I went in with high expectations. It fulfilled those expectations and so much more. It surpassed them. As must as I was expecting this book to be good I was not expecting it to be as fantastically phenomenal as it was.

Echo was popular once. But then something happened. She started withdrawing from her friends and became the centre of the school's gossip. But Echo doesn't even remember herself what happened. All she knows is that she woke up in hospital with scars on her arms with no recollection of how they got there. While going through councelling to try and remember that night and what happened to her Echo meets Noah, typical bad boy and bad influence. But Noah's life is more similar to Echo's than she knows. Trying to fight her growing attraction to the boy everyone tells her to stay away from Echo much make a decision, go for what she wants and become a social reject or keep living a lie to please her friends and family. But no matter what she decides will she be able to handle the truth about what happened?

There are just no words to explain this book. I loved it so much and read it in one sitting. I could not put it down. From the very first page I was sucked into Echo and Noah's world and I just couldn't put it down until the last page. I devoured it and now wish I had taken my time with it as I just want to read it all over again.

Katie's writing is phenomenal. Pushing the Limits is told in split perspective. You have no clue how excited I was to find out this. I adore split perspective books. They are my absolute favourites as if feels like you are reading two stories in the same novel. That is one of the things I absolutely adore about this book, but it is only one thing of many.

There are not many authors out there who can completely suck me in like that and hook me so much that I cannot put it down. Pushing the Limits reminded me of how I felt when I read Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles. That was the first YA contemporary book I read and I devoured that in one sitting. Since then there has not been one contemporary novel that has gripped me like that... until now. Pushing the Limits made me feel like that. Simone Elkeles used to be my favourite Contemporary writer. After reading this book all I can say is move over Simone Elkeles because there is a new Queen of Contemporary in town! This book is phenomenal and is a must read. Even if you don't like contemporary... you  MUST read this book.

Echo and Noah have to be two of the best characters I have ever read about. I love them both. Echo is such a great character. So many bad things have happened to her and she still goes on. I just wanted to reach into the book and give her a hug and tell her everything would be okay. Then she met Noah. *insert dreamy sigh here* I loved Noah right from the very first moment. He is the typical bad boy but underneath all that the sweetest most loving guy that any girl would fall head-over-heels for... and I did. He is amazing and I am completely and totally in love with him. Noah in one word is... PERFECT!

Pushing the Limits is one of those highly unique books that you don't find very often but when you do you know you will cherish is forever. This is without a doubt the most emotional book I have ever read and I pretty much cried most of the way through it. It's such a beautiful and inspiring story and I know I will cherish this story forever and will re-read it again and again. It is simply beautiful and phenomenal.

Out of 5 stars I would give this book... A MILLION! It's just phenomenal and my favourite contemporary book I have ever read in my life. It completely took my breathe away and all I want to do is to read it again. Katie McGarry is now my favourite contemporary author ever and I take my hat off to her. She is phenomenal at what she does and I will be waiting on the edge of my seat counting down the days until her next book comes out.

"I'm right here and I swear I'll never let anyone hurt you again."
