There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
Wow! All I can say is Wow. Pure was absolutely EPIC!
I finished this book weeks ago and I still can't put into words how amazing it was.
Alex is slowly coming to terms with being the Apollyon but with Seth, 'her other half' close by she struggles to dead with their supernatural connection, not to mention the complication he causes with her relationship with Aidne. But when Daimon's attack the Covenant, all three must work together with the other Sentinals to survive the attack and protect the Pure Bloods.
I seriously still do not know how to put my thoughts and feelings on this book in words. It left me completely breathless and speechless.
Alex was, as always, amazing and strong and no matter what happened to her she dealt with it. I loved that we saw a more vulnerable side to her in Pure and it really made me love her even more. A lot of time when heroines show their vulnerable side I find them quite annoying but I did not get this feeling with Alex at all, I just loved her more seeing her vulnerable side. I really loved that you saw she is only human and things affect her just like everyone else and it really made me admire her so much more when she puts on the brave front to everyone else.
Aiden, oh, Aiden. I just adore him. He is one of my favourite fictional guys ever. I think he is right behind Daemon, another of Jennifer's phenomenal characters. I definitely fell more and more in love with during Pure and I adored every scene he was in. Saying that he did break my heart as well. By the end of the book I was completely and utterly head-over-heels in love with him again.
Now on to Seth. At the end of Half-Blood I liked Seth but to me this wasn't a love triangle because next to Aiden there was no competition. Then I read Pure. One thing Jennifer is great at doing is making you love every single one of her characters so you cannot choose at all. The more of this book I read the more I fell in love with Seth. He is so sweet and caring and I just wanted to hug him. I adore both hum and Aiden.
I am still 100% Team Aiden but after Pure it's fair to say that whichever Alex chooses, I will have the other because I am just in love with both of them.
Jennifer is definitely sticking as my favourite author ever. Considering half-Blood was her debut novel and I have read only 5 books (yes I'm counting the prequels to both series) she has just completely blown me away with her work. I have never been so impressed with an author so quickly and I am obsessed with all of her books and cannot wait for the next one.
Pure what without a doubt the best sequel I have ever read and I cannot wait for Deity.
Phenomenal! Epic!
