Inhuman (Fetch #1)

Inhuman - Kat Falls

In a world ravaged by mutation, a teenage girl must travel into the forbidden Savage Zone to recover lost artifacts or her father’s life is forfeit.

America has been ravaged by a war that has left the eastern half of the country riddled with mutation. Many of the people there exhibit varying degrees of animal traits. Even the plantlife has gone feral.

Crossing from west to east is supposed to be forbidden, but sometimes it’s necessary. Some enter the Savage Zone to provide humanitarian relief. Sixteen-year-old Lane’s father goes there to retrieve lost artifacts—he is a Fetch. It’s a dangerous life, but rewarding—until he’s caught.

Desperate to save her father, Lane agrees to complete his latest job. That means leaving behind her life of comfort and risking life and limb—and her very DNA—in the Savage Zone. But she’s not alone. In order to complete her objective, Lane strikes a deal with handsome, roguish Rafe. In exchange for his help as a guide, Lane is supposed to sneak him back west. But though Rafe doesn’t exhibit any signs of “manimal” mutation, he’s hardly civilized . . . and he may not be trustworthy.

Inhuman was a book that I hadn't heard of but when I saw it was available on Netgalley as a "Read Now" book as part of the Waiting to Catch Fire promotion I had to download to read. I am such a massive fan of YA Dystopia novels and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. One thing I have been dying and waiting for is to find that incredibly unique and fresh dystopia novel/series that stands completely apart from the rest... Well... I have finally found it. Inhuman is that book. It's brilliant and unqiue and new and it may be one of my favourite dystopia novels to date.

Lane lives behind the wall and even though she is curious to see if her Dad's crazy stories about the ferals beyond the wall are true she knows that it's safer where she is. However when her Dad's life and reputation is in jeapordy she must cross the wall and do the impossible to save him.

Inhuman was so incredible. I am without a doubt blown away by this book. I had never heard of Kat Falls before but I am officially a fan. I adore her writing style it sucked me in right from the start and I just couldn't put this book down. I loved the entire thing, from the unique storyline to the amazing characters... everything was just amazing.

Lane is such an awesome heroine. I seriously love her. She goes on such an incredibly journey thorughout inhuman and you really see her grow. From the innocent girl from the west to the wild-child at the end I just loved living this story through her. She is a great character to experience everything through as you can really feel every emotion she goes through. There were many times I was almost in tears just because of what she was going through.

Rafe... oh my Rafe I am in love. My beautiful wild boy! I have so much love for him and he breaks my heart so much. Rafe is the snarky bad boy that you just can't help but love and I fell head over heels in love with him. He is just the guy that nobody could resist.

One thing I love about this book is that the romance takes a backburner approach in this book. You are so taken away in this incredibly unique, new world and story that you don't even need the romance. The romance does come but it's very slowly developed and I LOVE THAT! So many YA reationships happen so fast so I love that this one takes its time to develop.

Everything about Inhuman was perfection. I loved every single moment and the ending left me reeling heartbroken and cripped. Ms Kat Falls well done you captured my heart and threw a dagger in it at the end. I am emotionally crippled yet again by the hands of a book and its author. Inhuman is the perfect book for fans of YA Dystopia novels. If you're looking for a book that will capture your heart, take you on a heart-pounding adventure full of action and intrigue with a dash of romance then Inhuman is a must-read. It stole my heart and left me breathless. I am counting down until I can get my hands on book 2.
