Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid #1)

Succubus Blues - Richelle Mead

Succubus (n.) An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men. Pathetic (adj.) A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid.

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. Her boss is a middle-management demon with a thing for John Cusack movies. Her immortal best friends haven't stopped teasing her about the time she shape-shifted into the Demon Goddess getup complete with whip and wings. And she can't have a decent date without sucking away part of the guy's life. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore--free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny...

I was actually really quite late coming to this series. I have had it sitting on my shelf for over a year and I finally decided to pick it up and read it. I am a huge Richelle Mead fan and have loved all of her other series, both YA and Adult and this is the last one of her series that I still have to read.

Georgina has been a succubus for centuries. She refuses to date nice guys as she doesn't want to hurt them but when she meets her favourite author she has to try to distance herself from him so she doesn't harm him. But suddenly strange things are happening in the demonic underworld of Seattle and Georgina is caught right in the midst of it.

I really loved this book. I was caught up in the great story right from the beginning. I love Georgina, she is such a great lead female character and she makes me laugh with her witty banter all the time. Right from the start of the book I couldn't put it down, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen with her tangled love life and then later on in the book all the action of the demonic underworld had me on the edge of my seat dying to know what was going to happen.

I really didn't know what to think of Seth at first, he's very shy and doesn't really say much throughout the first part of the book so I couldn't really say whether I liked or disliked him as you don't know much about him. However the more I read and the more he started to open up the more I started to love him. In a lot of books you have the male characters that you love but act very much fictional there is no way they would ever be real and act like that. What I love about Seth is, yes he's fictional but he's a very believable character and you could meet someone just like him. He's the kind of character that every girl will love as he acts just like a normal 'real' guy would and I love that. He's so sweet and caring but can be so awkward around Georgina. By the end of the book I was head over heels in love with him and I can't wait to find out what happens next with him and Georgina.

I really liked Roman throughout the book and thought he was really sweet and you could see how much he cared about Georgina. I never ever guessed at what he was and I was completely shocked. I love books that shock me and that have a twist that I never saw coming as too many books I have read I have been able to predict what's going to happen so I love it when I am wrong and there's a big twist that I never would have imagined so I really loved this book.
I think this is a great first book in a series and I can't wait to read the rest of them and see what's in store for Georgina and Seth next.
