Breaking Glass

Breaking Glass - Lisa Amowitz

On the night seventeen-year-old Jeremy Glass winds up in the hospital with a broken leg and a blood alcohol level well above the legal limit, his secret crush, Susannah, disappears. When he begins receiving messages from her from beyond the grave, he's not sure whether they're real or if he's losing his grip on reality. Clue by clue, he gets closer to unraveling the mystery, and soon realizes he must discover the truth or become the next victim himself.

Right from the moment I heard of Breaking Glass I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It just sounded so unique and different to any other YA novels that I had read. I wasn't wrong. Breaking Glass is such an incredible and unique novel. It is unlike anything else I have ever read and I just couldn't put it down it was fantastic.

Lisa Amowitz is an author to look out for in the future. Her writing style is superb and quite frankly just addicting. Right from the start I was completely enamored with this story. From Lisa's fantastic character development to her addictive storytelling I found Breaking Glass completely unputdownable. Breaking Glass has a great mix of suspense and mystery while brushing on the aspect of psychological distress as well.

Jeremy is such a great character and I loved getting to know him more and more the further I got through the book. I was very surprised at how much I loved Jeremy and his narration. Usually I find books that are completely told by the male POV I don't enjoy quite as much as ones told from the POV of the female protagonist. I don't know whether it is because I find I can't identify on a personal level with them as much but I find I just don't enjoy them as much. Jeremy was very much different. I don't know why but I am glad he was. I loved him. He is such a great character and I found it fascinating to get inside his head. I don't know whether it's because I'm a Psychology graduate and I found it brilliant to try and suss him out and find out more about his psychological state but I loved reading his story and I loved his POV.

Breaking Glass was chilling. Just like the cover it touched me and chilled me at the same time. I loved the suspense of it all and I adored the psychological aspect. It was possibly my favourite part of the book. I think Lisa is genuinelly fantastic and I love how she wrote the THEN and NOW aspects of the book so we could see the difference between Jeremy before the accident and Jeremy post-accident and it just made the book even more unputdownable for me. I loved every second of it.

Breaking Glass is a must read for all fans of YA fiction. It's a chilling and addictive story that is so unique and unlike anything I've ever read before. If you're looking for a new book to obsess over that is completely unique then Breaking Glass is for you. It's fantastic and not to be missed under any circumstances
