Oh. What. The. Feck! I am so torn about this book. On the one hand it was amazing and epic and everything I expected from Karen Marie Moning. On the other hand it was just... well... not Fever.

The walls of Dublin have fell and the fae are taking over. Dublin is now an incredibly dangerous place to be and Dani O'Malley is one of two people able to save the people. In possession of one of only two weapons in the world that can kill the fae Dani takes control as protector of the people. As if that wasn't bad enough she must deal with the unwanted attention of Ryodan, a seductive nightclub owner. Parts of Dublin are Icing... literally freezing over and exploding and Ryodan enlists Dani's help to figure out how and why it's happening. Ryodan and Dani must find a way to stop it before the whole of Dublin ices over, including the people.

Well... I have such mixed feelings about this book. I loved it and I kinda didn't at the same time. I was very reluctant to start this book. I am such a massive fan of the Fever series and in my opinion it is the best adult Urban Fantasy series I have ever read and I could read it over and over and love it just as much as the first time I read it. However I was not such a massive fan of Dani in the Fever series so to find that this book (and the next two) were from Dani's perspective I was just disappointed and unsure if I would like this book at all... I did like it. I loved it. Karen Marie Moning has proven herself as queen of Urban Fantasy. I'm not sure there is anything this woman could write that I wouldn't love as her books are just addictive. And Iced was no different. Right from the first page I was pulled back into the Fever world and reminded just how much I adore it. I just love this world. I love the setting and I love the characters... well most of them... and I love the story of the fae. Karen Marie Moning's writing is just addictive and you just cannot help but love everything she writes.

Dani... Oh... Dani... Dani... Dani... I didn't like her in Fever at all. I found her irritating and annoying and the small part she narrated in the Fever series I found myself skipping over it because I just found her irritating as hell... this did not change much in Iced. I found her so freaking irritating and annoying I just kind of wanted to slap her... at first. The more I read the more I got used to her narration and by the end of the book I had warmed to her a little and just found a lot of her irritating behaviours and sayings quite amusing and at times funny. By the end I kinda liked her and I am genuinelly looking forward to the next book and I don't think I'll have as much as a problem as I did with this one because I am now accustomed to her point of view.

One thing I genuinelly loved about this book was seeing different perspectives. Some chapters are told from the perspective of Christian and Kat and I loved seeing their side of things and what happened... most of the time. Kat is now taking over the sidhe-seers and I loved reading her perspective of how she dealt with it and what was happening with the sidhe-seers as for the most of it Dani is far away from them. Christian... well I kind of enjoyed his perspective of how he was dealing with what was happening but his perspective is icky sometimes. And that is one of the major problems I had with this book.

As much as I loved this book I has two major problems with it.
1. It's just gross and disgusting and wrong. Some things literally made me feel physically sick and made my skin crawl. Mainly the 'relationship' between Dani and Ryodan and Christian. Dani is a fourteen year old girl and she has two grown men having sexual thoughts and feelings towards her... that she does not understand at all... why? Because she's a freaking child that's why. For the most part I found it a little icky but I could deal with it... Until we got Christian's perspective and we get the 'inside' of his 'feelings' for Dani and it made me feel physically sick! No I do not want to know that your dick is getting hard because of a fourteen year old girl... you wanna know why? Because it's fecking disgusting and I just... *shudder* You know I find it sick and wrong enough without having to read something like that. Just... NO!

2. I miss Barrons and Mac. I tried not to but while reading this book my mind was just constantly going 'I wonder what Barrons and Mac are doing'. I just really missed them. I missed Barrons because... well let's face it IT'S BARRONS! And I missed Mac's kick-ass attitude. I just love Mac she is one of my favourite literary heroine's ever and reading a book set in the fever world without Mac's point of view is just wrong. For me anyway. I just really missed them and although I do love and have become attached to the new characters I just don't have the feelings I do when reading about Mac and Barrons.

I genuinely did enjoy this book and I have to say I am totally and utterly in love with Ryodan *fans self* and Dancer. Dance is just the sweetest guy ever and I so want him and Dani to end up together. They are just perfect for each other. I guarantee that if you liked Fever series you WILL love this book. I do love it... but I don't at the same time. It's just an epic chapter in the phenomenal unmissable Fever series but it just doesn't quite live up to the standard that is Fever. Fever is just so in a league of it's own and at least to me Iced just failed to live up to that standard.

Iced is absolutely worth the read and I still loved every moment of it and can't wait to see what will happen next. I love this series and it is still one of my favourites. I just had some problems with this book but not enough to stop my enjoyment of it and I was still completely hooked unable to turn the pages fast enough dying to find out what was going to happen. Because of my problems with Iced I was so torn between giving it 3 stars and 4 stars. I eventually decided to go with 4 as this book is so worth more than 3... I so desperately want to give it 5 because I did love it and found it pretty damn unputdownable but I just... I just can't because of my problems with it. I can't wait for the second book in the Dani O'Malley saga and I really hope that my problems with this drop away.
