Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful #1)

Beautiful Disaster - Jamie McGuire

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

"I love you more than I've ever loved anyone or anything, ever. All I need is you. You're all I think about. You're all I dream about. You're all I want."

I'll be honest I was really scared to start this book. This book is being tagged as a younger version of Fifty Shades of Grey. When I heard that I almost didn't read this book. It's no surprise to anyone my feelings of Fifty Shades. I hated it... with a passion. It's the worst book I've ever read in my life... but I won't start ranting about that now. If you want to know my thoughts click here. I really did not want to read the book that people are saying is the new Fifty Shades but after friends convinced me to give it a go I finally started it.
First let me say to all people who are put off this book because of the comparison to Fifty Shades give this book a go because it is nothing, NOTHING like Fifty Shades. I hated Fifty... I LOVED this book! I thought it was great and I was completely sucked in from the beginning.

Abby is the good girl. Desperate to escape the darkness of her past Abby sees College as her new start. She is determined to stay on the right path, no drinking, no swearing. But then she meets Travis. The College's infamous one-night stand guy Abby and Travis embark on a dangerous friendship. Can they really stay just friends when feelings are growing between both of them? And can Travis really change his womanizing ways to be the boy that Abby deserves?

I love love love this book. It is so addictive and I could not put it down. I was completely sucked in from the very first page and couldn't put it down. I read it in about a day because I just had to see what happened. Jamie McGuire is amazing at really sucking her readers in with her writing style. I loved the writing style and it kept me completely captured and unable to wait to see what was going to happen. I half wanted to flick to the back of the book to see what was going to happen because there is so much tension going on I just couldn't take it.

Travis... let's see I did not have a very good first impression of him. He calls her Pigeon. First off... that is the WORST nickname/petname I have ever heard in my life. Pigeon's are horrible flea-ridden, shitting everywhere creatures and I hate them. They are horrible. So if someoene called me Pigeon or Pidge I would punch them in the face! But once we got to see Travis again although he acted like an ass at the beginning I loved him. He really made me laugh and the more I read the more I loved him. Even when he was acting like a douche I was more sad going... you don't have to act like this!

Abby is amazing! I love her! My one fear about books is that I don't like the lead female character. If I don't like the narrator I don't like the book. But I needant have worried. She is awesome. Right from the start when she just tells Travis straight and doesn't take any of his crap I loved her! Because that is exactly what I would have done. True she does some questionable things that she needed slapping for but I still continued to love her. Both Abby and Travis act stupidly at times and I just wanted to reach in the book and bang their heads together! But only because I loved them both so much I wanted them to stop being idiots and just talk and have a conversation and work things out!

I love love love this book and I can't stop ranting about how amazing it was. This is such an emotional rollercoaster. There are highs and lows and it's so much of an emotional ride I was convinced I was gonna have whiplash by the end. Luckily... I didn't.
Beautiful Disaster is without a doubt one of the best contemporary books I have read. I was completely enraptured by this story and sucked into Abby and Travis' dysfunctional relationship and refused to stop reading until everything worked out.

I am so glad I gave this book a chance as it has ended up as one of my favourite contemps and I will definitely be re-reading it. Don't let what other people say put you off reading because this one is definitely worth taking a chance on. If you are a fan of Contemporary books then give this one a go. I would recommend to any fans of Pushing the Limits. If you loved that one I think you'll love this.

"I didn't know I was lost until you found me. I didn't know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You're the one thing I got right. You're what I've been waiting for."
